Lately, new ideas are becoming more difficult to come by. I find prompts (like those in the daily haiku challenge) to be a real asset.
Last Monday, Victoria at http://liv2write2day.wordpress.com/, in her Monday Morning Writing Prompt http://liv2write2day.wordpress.com/2011/02/21/monday-morning-writing-prompt-100-best-novels-of-the-20th-century/, listed the 100 best novels of the 20th century. This worked for me, and in her blog, I posted my take on The Invisible Man.
Because it has a recurring line, like some other poems I’ve been playing with, I thought I’d post it here. Thank you Victoria.
THE INVISIBLE MAN

I saw you today.
You didn’t see me.
Oh, you looked in my direction,
But perhaps I wasn’t there.
I walked up until I touched your hand.
You pulled away without feeling me
And wiped your hand on your blouse.
Perhaps I wasn’t there.
I spoke to you today;
Called your name out loud.
You passed by without a sound.
Perhaps I wasn’t there.
I wrote a poem today
And left it for you to read.
I won’t know if you found it.
Perhaps I wasn’t there.

Real cool poem, and it speaks to those who are outcasts of society. Ignored and made to feel that their worth is not enough for attention.
