Tonight, my blog counter registered its 1,000th viewer, exactly 30 days after its inception. That is far beyond my wildest dreams, and I humbly offer a special thanks to all you, my friends in poetry, who have made that possible.

One poem may take to wing
While another quickly dies,
Therefore, a poet learns his craft
Through fits and starts and tries.

A poet writes for readers,
Their interest, he must hold,
Be the style soft and gentle
Or screaming loud and bold.

New formats must be mastered.
Some rhyming schemes prevail,
Others, by the wayside fall
For all that they entail.

This blog I do for me,
But it’s mostly done for you.
May every poem posted here
Your interest, again, renew.

Thank you.
Mike Patrick
